Experimental Animation

For this project, my classmate, Mattea Guldy, and I were required to use five animation techniques: sand, charcoal, paint on glass, stop motion, and drawn on film. This animation was inspired by the history of alchemy (the transformation of substances, like fire changing into water) and elements: sun, moon, earth, fire, and water. We wanted to embody alchemical characteristics using animation techniques we had at hand. The beginning and the end are based on both the cycle of life and The Alchemist, a novel about a boy who visits the Great Pyramid.
